Dear Friends, Colleagues, and Family,
Bob and I want to express our deep gratitude to everyone who has reached out and made meals for us in the past several weeks since our son was born. You may have seen us around, picking up our older kids from the ECC or coming to shul without the baby in tow, and as we will continue to be around we want to give you some more information about what is going on with our family.
Ronen Eliezer was born with a congenital diaphragmatic hernia (CDH), for which he had a surgical repair at seven days old. He is in the process of recovery in the NICU at Children's National Medical Center, where he'll be for the next several weeks and possibly months. As Ronen approaches his one-month milestone -- today he is 4 weeks old! -- we are told he is slowly but surely improving, albeit incrementally, and his prognosis is good. It helps that he is super-cute!
We will share what we feel is appropriate when we are ready. We look forward to sharing good news as Ronen recovers, and being able to introduce him to you when he is discharged from the hospital. Please be assured that we are well-supported by those in our family and close circles, and we will ask for support as we are comfortable. If prayer is part of your routine, please include Ronen Eliezer ben Hinda Tzivia in your prayers for healing.
Best, Cantor Hinda Labovitz
